Finished School

So, last night at 7:45pm, I completed the last exam I will ever have to write for school. 100 multiple choice questions, 45 minutes and I’m now finished my degree. I can honestly say that it feels like a great weight has been lifted, and I’m finally done school. All I need to do now is wait for that piece of paper to come in the mail that says “you’re smart”. That brings me into the whole topic of education, and my particularly “interesting” views on it…

So, now that I am an edumacated individual, I believe I can offer a few insights into our education system, and trust me when I say, it does work for the majority of people, however subjective it may seem. A lot of people seem to focus on the material aspects of education, and say that exams, tests and essays are all too subjective, and based on the professor’s opinions. While I agree with this viewpoint, I don’t believe that people look at education in the correct light. From my perspective, I believe that school in general doesn’t aim to spoon feed you information, the whole purpose of the education system is to teach you to learn.

Learning is something you do throughout your life, and learning to learn is probably one of the hardest things anyone can accomplish. I’m not saying that I now know the best way to learn, but I have learned how I best learn and how I can best segment and digest information. To that end, I thank all the professors and teachers I’ve had throughout my life, who all pressured me with deadlines and seemingly impossible projects, you didn’t teach me anything I didn’t learn on my own, but you taught me how to manage my time and how to best condense information into a manageable fashion.

So, such is my first post on my blog… I’m still trying to get the hang of this whole blogging thing, but will try and post on various topics throughout the course of this blog, and hopefully I can learn to blog a little better as time goes on ;) .
